M. G. Yaazhini faced academic challenges during her early schooling. She had difficulty memorizing content and coping with traditional teaching methods, which led to low academic performance and negative feedback from educators and peers. Despite these struggles, she demonstrated strengths in public speaking and creative expression.
Her turning point came with the support of her science teacher, Mrs. Karpagam, who recognized signs of a possible learning difficulty. She invited Yaazhini to her home to provide individual attention and, through careful observation, identified symptoms consistent with dyslexia.
Mrs. Karpagam subsequently provided remedial support, which helped her improve academically and build self-confidence. This experience influenced her decision to pursue a career in psychology and special education.
